I recon you should have access to some logs. Image How could anyone not pay that for eggs from chickens that live in a house like this.

If you missed it, their is another tab "Hen House of the Month" on the origianl link.

She'll be home in a little while and just wait till you see some of the ideas she has come up with on the net. After her two story playhouse with wall to wall carpet she thinks her daddy can do anything. :???: I gotta remind her that we are talking chickens here. :lol2:

If the Girl Scouts can get $8 for a $2 box of cookies, a cute lil girl ought to be able to get pretty good money for her cage free, hormone free, all natural eggs. Especially when you consider the Girl Scouts didn't even bake the cookies themselves.

I'll bet the girl won't lay the egg either.

No but you should see her in action when it comes to business. I doubt there are many girls her age that make their parents go to the bank at least once a week to make deposits. I can all but guarantee you that she will make money at this. Heck, she has already got orders and we couldn't even produce a feather if we were asked too. :lol2:

I guess one of the main rules in business is to know you have a market for your product.

Jogee, I was funnin about Girl Scouts not baking the cookies they sell as if they should have to bake them to sell them.

Sounds like that chicken coup needs to get a littler bigger. Somewhere I read about chicken houses being sold by 40 ft sections. All you have to do is move them. :P

I node dat! Got a chuckle out of it. If anyone is going to be laying any eggs it will be me. See, she is also a good manager and can sometimes delegate the work she don't want to do to the head servant. Gotta remember, now that my boys are gone I'm outnumbered by princesses. ;-)

Hey Jogee, my old mind is going off in so many directions about this chicken coup thing...you know you could really do it up nice so you have a place to hide when the doghouse is to small. Seeing the man cave is probably all power puffed up by now, a new one with the chickens might be the place to be.

Jogeephus, 4 chickens might not be enough for your little mogul in the making. She's already selling eggs and it's gonna take her 3 days just to get a dozen with 4 hens. Why not order a batch of sexed chicks from a hatchery, 25 minimum, and let her brood them and have the "full chicken experience". She could sell the extra pullets for $5 each, easy. (At least around here you can.) If you get an assortment of "leftovers" from the hatchery you can get the chicks for just over a buck each.

Vette, you are a wise man. Yes, that would be wonderful cause the "man cave" - I mean the "entertainment room" is no longer the same without the poster of Farrah Faucett. Of course the lace and streamers left after my daughter's spend the night party is quite colorful. :lol2:

Did I ever mention "the bug" is stubborn as a mule? (mom's genes I'm sure) Anyhow, she is set on this design. May end up making it a little bigger but this is what "she is going to build".

MoCows, I think this is what she has to do. She has to keep up with her expenses and keep records of everything. I think we will make it a little bigger than the plans since this will put her one step closer to her ultimate goal which is to have a monopoly in egg sales in our neighborhood as she did with the veggies. I can tell she is really in to this idea so I'm gonna support her any way I can.

Nice look and not a hard design to build. How did that happen. :P

I toned her done just a little. I gotta get her to show me the link but there is a place that hads dozens of these designs. One of them was like a castle and you'd have to be a master carpenter to build the thing. Of course she liked it but I convinced her to lower her expectations of her dad's abilities. She, I think, all too readily agreed with me on this point so I really don't know what that says about me. (probably been talking to mom :lol2: )

Jo - it's not big enough. If she's going to sell eggs, she needs more chickens. You do need to get her around 25 or so in order for her to have product. And... make sure you get brown egg layers. That's where the money is at.

Please please don't tell her that. We gotta start small and see how it goes. If she starts selling a bunch I can always put them in the dog kennels.

That is a nice design. The roof looks like the corrugated steel my husband makes on his job.
