Have not seen anyone posting pictures of Charolais here. Any breeders out there?
I use Black Simmental bulls now but for years used Charolais for crossbreeding with very good luck. Thinking about buying a couple of young Charolais bulls this fall if I can find the right ones.

I saw the one cypress posted. I would be looking for some that are 6-6.5 frame with a lot of muscle. Epd's mean a lot but I like eye appeal also. I will not buy without EPD info, no matter how good they look.

Are you looking to buy or AI or something? I think the 6 and 6.5 frame may be a little ambitious. Most Chars have bigger frame scores than that.

Go buy some blonde daquitaines for the terminal instead, crosses great with simmenthal (at least the red ones), more muscle, easier calvings, same growth.

Here in USA we've really moderated our frame size. Should be able to find 6 - 6.5 frame Chars.
Anazazi - not many blonde's around that I am aware of - other than dumb blonds like me!

Even if they are rare you only need one, if it is a bull.

If the cattle are yellow here, they bring more than black. Not sure of all the ways to make yellows though.

In Town: Kathy works as a bookkeeper for Danny and Donna Montgomery. They own Fiser Kubota. They have the Fiser Kubota tractor stores in Russellville, Ark., and in Little Rock.

In the Country: Kathy's farm, located outside Harrison, Ark., was passed down to her from her father. Most of it was the original family homestead, and some he added over the years. She runs around 100 head of cattle. She has hay put up on shares, around 500 or 600 bales every year. She runs a Charolais bull on her red cows or a Red Gelbvieh bull on her Charolais cows. These crosses bring her yellow calves. She says yellow Charolais calves bring more than straight Charolais often.

Why did you choose Charolais and Gelbvieh?
"We have quite a bit of a coyote problem. The Charolais cows are very protective. They will fight the coyotes or dogs. They're different like that. And the Gelbvieh, I love my Gelbvieh bull. He is so gentle. Gelbvieh cows are a little easier to work with."

Jeanne is right. The American breeders have really been able too moderate the frame on the Chars.

How about a good Red Angus bull Kenny

If I were to get into the Char deal or use some Char genetics, I would really look hard at the Lindscov Theil program. Pick up a Genex or ABS book and they are all over the place. I know the people and the ranch and they are as good as you will find. They ranch about 1/2 hour drive from us. Mike Callis has used his genetics and has bulls for sale in Alabama, but I am sure their are breeders in your area that have infused the LT genetics into their program.

Kenny, there is a breeder thats a good friend of mine that lives about 7-8 miles from here. He has a website with cattle Today. www.bjrsummerford.com He has some really good Charolais cattle and they are really good people.
