Do people not think?

Postby Jogeephus » Sat Apr 28, 2012 11:29 am

I went by the seed store this morning and the old lady that runs the store said she was happy to see me cause she was short of help and she had just sold a sack of fertilizer to a woman and asked if I would carry it to her car. I gladly agreed and picked up the bag and followed her out the door past a fairly empty parking lot, past four other businesses and about a block from the store. Maybe its just me, and maybe its just cause I'm lazy, but if I'm gonna buy fertilizer or something heavy I'm going to park as close to the building as possible not a block away.

Would a thinking man not have set the bag down outside the door and told the woman to drive up to the door and then placed the bag in the trunk?

I think know the lady and she's my MIL. I can hear her now saying, "It's just right here."

Jo you shoulda broke that bag down into several sacks for the ladies so they could carry it. That way she could handle it once she got home. After a few trips................
Our ancestors gave us this. They fought to make it what it is. All we have to do is defend it.

I have this problem all the time, especially with older ladies checking out.

OL: I'll get someone to carry that for you
Reg: It's just fine, I can manage it. *picks item up*
OL: oh no you can't *hails nearest male* Oi you! Git over here and help this lady.
Reg: there's absolutely no need. *turns to go*
meanwhile male blocks path, grabs item: where's your car ma'am?
Reg: er, halfway across town where there's lots of parking spaces and no charge to use them and if you'll give that back I'll take it there myself.
Male: don't be silly
being a good operator simply increases the chances that the owner of your lease block will call it a good farm and sell it for way more than it's worth.

The price you have to pay for being a hottie! 8) Learn to live with it. It could be worse it could be that no one wanted to carry yer stuff! :frowns:

I had a similar situation about two weeks ago when my arm was hurting pretty bad. The gal that owns the store is older and her hired man didn't show up for the day. I wasn't about to admit that I was to lame to do it so I loaded four fifty pound sacks one at a time with my two-fingered left hand doing all of the work and my right hand just resting on top of the sack so as to not make me look crippled... The stack was a long ways from the car and fifty pounds is alot to carry with your off-arm.
I've always considered myself a little to thoughtful to be very macho but aparently that changed somewhere along the way.
