Just today...

Johnson & Johnson is laying off several thousands. HSBC only 1,700. Nokia 5,700.

I don't know about party hats, but I do hear a hard hat might be useful if you are anywhere around commercial real estate. :shock:

Some of us are living it every day... bid 6 to 10 jobs in hopes of getting just 1... and of course 20 of your best competitors are trying the same thing.

Not huge by US standards but huge by standards here, 100 coal miners layed off here in Virginia last Thursday. Company said new enviromental regulations could not be met so the jobs will be lost.
My thoughts only, don't bet the farm on them. KT 2009

Gold way up today. India purchased 200 metic tons of gold betweenn Oct. 9 to 30. Biggest single purchase in so short a time in 30 years. China and others expected to follow because they don't have faith in dollars (ink) and are looking to gold as the new reserve currency.

People can buy houses for just a little more than they are really worth?

Would you pay $225K for a 35 year old trailer on a 1/8th acre lot? Someone did out in CA.
