Young Brangus Bull Feed Back

Postby Pineland » Fri Jul 20, 2012 8:39 am

I always enjoy seeing feed back on other bulls both good and bad so I thought I would put one up that we just acquired. http://www.int-brangus.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=ibba_animal&file=_animal&animal_registration=R10186598 is our first young Brangus bull. We previously were using Angus bulls on simi-angus cows but due to the previous drought we made a decision to convert to a Brangus herd. Thanks in advance for the feed back on this youngster both good and bad. He just turned 17 months old, and plan to use him as a heifer bull. All comments welcome and again thanks in advance.

not trying to be mean ,, as it can sound when you dont like a animal but i think you'll regret that decision... theres place's in the north in a drought right now.. youre gonna sacrifice alot of herd quality, by using him ....

No worries here. I am not easily offended. Now if you talk about my hunting dog, then its a different story. :) I have nothing vested in this bull, and know that he isn't going to set the world on fire. We dispersed the vast majority of our simiangus, and slowly building up our brangus as our property can support a higher carrying capacity. We are very fortunate however to have some very good brangus cows. Again thanks for the opinion. More specific feed back is welcome.

ACM thank you. The sheath is obvious and thank you for the other observations. We have no intentions of keeping any bulls. Ultimately all of our cows will be covered by Charolais Bulls for terminal crosses.

Yeh, his lipstick could be a bit of a problem, however from what I can see in the photos, he doesn't look too bad. He is in working condition.

Need something like this bull bred by T.J.Peters in Texas to reduce the sheath in your herd;

You can reduce it using brangus bulls. Just gotta be better than the one shown. He's a cull.

Bull isn't horrible . But I'd put money on him eventually stepping on his peter when he stands up . And thats not pretty . Once he's on it he will pull it out by standing up .

She's a "looker"..looking at the breeding on the bull in the pic it looks like his dam was a "real" cow and was flushed... his sire should be great on paper at least...but sometimes you just get one that looks like a gut with all the shyt slung out of it....they may get bigger but not better.
