My husband and I went on an Alaska on one for our 25th anniversary on a Princess ship out of Seattle. Other than going on a crab fishing boat (he forced me, and to my surprise one of the most memorable things I have ever done), we didn't do any excursions. 100% time to relax and recharge our batteries. Only worry was whether to go to the dining room or get room service. Food was amazing. My husband couldn't get enough of the rolls. Our cell phones worked and were able to check on the boys. Hung out on the balcony under a blanket and watched the sights. It was inside passage, so land was always in sight. Got off the ship and walked threw the towns.

For our 20th anniversary, Caribbean cruise was in order on Royal Caribbean out of Galveston. Water was gorgeous, but not a fan of the heat. We have enough of that in Texas. Best part of that trip was relaxing in a hammock with the gentle island breeze in the Grand Cayman islands and eating dinner with our new friends we met from all over Texas. Financially we had to stay in the cheapest inside room. Really wasn't an issue, but I had never had a balcony at that time and didn't know what I was missing.

When my son graduates from Texas Tech and we have the money, we would like to go on an European cruise.

Your welcome.

Our first cruise we spent every shore stop scuba diving. Wife can't do that anymore because she got bent up pretty good. So this trip we plan on spending just relaxing and snorkeling.
I'd love to dive the islands but I won't do that to her since she misses it so much.
Funny how just slowing down and enjoying time is more important now.

Well one thing about your 20th will be you'll have to wear your hat as you won't have anywhere to hang it. :lol2: :deadhorse: (boy we need a knee slappin icon bad).

Took a merchant marine cruise to Angola in the very early seventies. Spent 16 months in Angola fighting a civil war,no more cruises for me.

I don't think I want to cruise, thank you. I hate crowds, am not good in casinos, just a bit too intense. I'm currently waging a losing battle with my gut, so the food doesn't sell me. Expensive beer is the reason I haven't been to Reds game in 4 yrs. Major League Baseball says it cuts down late inning fights and raucous behavior by fans. I think the cruise lines extend that, arguing that fewer people fall off the ship when beer is $6.50 per serving.
Last week, I saw a man buried with a can of Busch Light. Danny was a good old boy, and I'm sure he never paid $6.50 for a beer.

I don't drink any more. Or any less.
The food has my attention, as does seeing other cultures. We're looking at the 7 day to the Belize, cozumel, that area. I'm looking forward To seeing the Mayan pyramids etc.
Now the drinks thing: you're allowed to bring one bottle on board. That will take care of the wife. Me..... I'm gonna have to get creative. Maybe pick up a case at each shore stop. Don't know yet.

I'm sure Belize has progressed since I was there in the 80s but back then it was nothing but a backward shythole. There was one nice little island "San Pedro" that had some great diving and beautiful beaches.

Well the wife mixed the idea of spending that kind of money for a 7 day. So looks like well be doing a 4/3 to the islands.

I know its early, and I haven't had much coffee, but wasn't it you who just a couple days ago wanted a 2/1 deal  :lol2: , and now it's turned into a 4/3

The 2 cruises I have been on did not let you bring any alcohol of any kind on board at boarding or shore stops. I'm interested in hearing your plan to smuggle a case of beer on board at different ports. :D

One of our cruises was to Skagway, Alaska, left out of Seattle. We hit open sea north of Victoria, BC and some rougher seas for most folks, 10 to 12 ft seas. Another tip for new cruisers is to book a cabin mid ship. The middle of the ship has the least amount of motion. Passengers had the room services crews hopping during that part of the cruise, lots of sea sick folks. The buffet was in the bow of the ship and it was a real challenge to get my wife and my drink back to the table. but we basically had the buffet to ourselves, I love all you can eat. Luckily my wife and I weren't effected and had a mid ship cabin, but I sure thought about the poor folks who had cabins in the bow section. Fun adventure, I would most certainly go on another cruise .... Belize sounds good!
I'm not afraid of hard work, I can lay down next to it and fall asleep without a problem.

Curious about the story behind this one.
