Yeah Hook I agree.

Had a neighbor steal our uncles gravel and treat our property just like his own private hunting preserve.
Caught him in our gravel pit. He wasn't suppose to be there.
Deputies had a chat with him concerning the No Trespassing sign. His easement did not include the pit.
Heard from him today about paying our uncle for that gravel.

Of course, it made it to court, because she found a lawyer who would take her money. The judge listened to the case, looked at the property documentation, and said, " I would advise you to keep your windows closed, if you don't like the smell." and threw it out. The farm was grandfather in, and it is still zoned Agricultural.

I laughed my a-- off.

Similar thing happened years ago in Bakersfield, ca. Some moron bought land next to a feed lot that had been there since as long as anyone could remember. People in the new subdivision sued the feedlot. Judge threw it out since the feedlot was obviously doing business when the idiots bought the land and built the houses.

7-8 years ago, in SW Idaho, residents in a fairly new subdivision called in noise complaints when a local farmer was out baling hay at night. Deputies came out, warned him to cut the racket, and left. Next night, same thing. The third night he was cited, and if I recall correctly, farmer raised a stink and was arrested for obstruction. Well, then the shyt hit the fan! The ground was being farmed long before the subdivision went it. In the next legislative session, a "right to farm" bill was passed . . . . "Can't make farmers quit farming!" Law is similar here in WA. Around that same time, same area, some outfit wanted to put in a big dairy near a subdivision. That was NOT approved, because the housing was there first, and even though the site had been farm ground, the dairy would be a new/different use and a nuisance.

I've learnt in years that all revenge does is consume one, instead of using the brain power for more positive things it is spent plotting a vendetta. I have also learnt that revenge is sweet, it just depends on how much idle time one has :P.

In this case revenge was only an afterthought. I went about my
Life for 5 years and afterwards thought " yep it's time"
Hence the afterthought. Took all of 20 minutes work to put things in action. And 4 beers.

Some folks are real slow learners, Hook. I don't blame you one bit, but I hope it doesn't come back and bite you in the butt later.

Just think of what you may have thought about after a 6 pack!

I'm not much on revenge. I think I would have just gone over and taken a quick peek at his work myself and added helpfull hints like "how did you ever get that roof to pass inspection, I can't believe they let you leave it that way... Who inspected it, I'm gonna call and ask specifically for him next time I have a shaky project.... You did have it inspected right?" Let them sweat it for awhile. Salt is good for wounds. It promotes healing... at least on your part.

Not that I don't battle with turning the other cheek because I do. I find it helpful to read Mathew 18:18 when situations like this occur. I have known many people like your neighbor in my life. It seems the more people are dissatisfied with thier own life, the more concerned they become with other peoples business. He is probably not a happy person. Life is too short to waste seconds much less massive amounts of time being unhappy. Pitty his situation. Extend an olive branch. He will find it much harder to cause you harm in the future. I had a neighbor turn me in once for starting a new home without proper permit for a septic tank. I would love to know the percent organic matter in my land beside her house. It was the only place I speade manure for years. I always thought it was funny. Looking back on it, it was a huge counter productive waste of resources.

In my county a building permit is a bright orange piece of paper. It is suppose to be posted in a visible place. So a guy up the road a mile or so built a fairly big new hay barn. This barn is about 300 feet off the county road. He matched up the color of the county building permit to a piece of papaer and typed up his own permit. Then he posted it on the corner post of the new barn. Anyone from the county or otherwise who drove by figured he had a permit. The county has enough inspectors that they probably all figured that someone else inspected that barn. A while after he was done with construction he took down his "permit" down. Nobody ever bothered him about his barn.
