Mach 9 Russian Naval Missile Unstoppable?

Post by jltrent » Fri Dec 13, 2019 6:23 am

Let's see so the U.S. Navy has nothing to stop it for destroying a Carrier Armada? Well maybe or maybe not, a Laser base ship could I think do the job!
It's always been a tit-for-tat situation in warfare Technology.

As the Russian leader said, the Tsirkon is capable of developing a speed of Mach 9 and its striking range capability can exceed 1,000 km. The Russian leader also said that the Tsirkon could strike both naval and ground targets. Experts say the Tsirkon hypersonic missile cannot be intercepted by any existing air defense capabilities.

The Navy hopes to begin fielding a megawatt-class laser in the 2025 timeframe. A laser with that kind of power could destroy ballistic missiles, but might require a very large host ship that also has ample electrical power. A nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, for instance.

can those ships launch Tsirkon while sitting in shambles at the bottom of the sea?

While US has been busy since 2000 with the various pests and wars.....the rivals have been spending on RnD and building.

The rivals have been working together, we also, have allowed them gain most of our knowledge....

Many of us may rember jap crap in the early days, well, no more......and others are improving fast, while the west seems to worry most about nasty words and squabbling politics ?

This is the same missile they were testing the engine that was for it. It blew up and killed a group of their engineers and scientist. Spread radio material every where. Their aircraft carrier caught fire in port. They have had subs catch on fire under water and kill the whole crew. Plus Russia does not have enough hard assets to last very long in a real fight. All of their money is in the hands of the rich oligarchs over there and they will not turn it lose.
