What?!?! No sardine mash. Vienna sausages or pickled pigs feet. Thought the cat was away. :D

On the same note, the sweet smelling one left me alone to go on one of those shopping trips so I decided it was high time to eat high on the hog. It don't get much better than this. Fine china and all.

Jo, that looks like some pickles, or maybe some squash. Either one is yum!

Fried squash straight out of the garden. I made a meal of it.

In June you will be the lucky one as it will be 250F here with a humidity of somewhere around 300%. ;-)

I was just out in the raised beds here, getting it ready to put tomatoes in. NO WAY we have anything from the garden ready in May! Zuchinni, Jo?

All humidity over 100% is fine with me! (Because it means rain)
Also, a 200F really makes a better sauna than 250F! :tiphat:

No zuchinni Kathie. My daddy grew about 8 acres of them one year then couldn't sell them. God forbid they go to waste. So we ate them and ate them and ate them. I can still taste them. Mom, bless her heart, tried every way in the world to cook them to make them palatable for us. There are a lot of ways to cook a zuchinni and I think I've had them all and they have had me.

Am now picking green beans, peppers and squash and digging potatoes. Sweet corn is now tassling so it won't be long.

Anzazi, what is your growing season like? I know you know I'm stretching the heat and humidity a bit(about 5 points) but it does get pretty miserable here during the summer. We can actually grow two gardens each year back to back. I like the fall garden better because it offers more agreeable picking conditions.

We typically plant most greens at the end of april, same time as oats and barley and the likes. Marrows, squash and beans are planted first week in june.

So when does it start cooling off or when do you get the first frost? I imagine garden work in Sweden is much more comfortable than here. That's why I like a fall garden. Picking is much more comfortable. These spring gardens can be hot at times.

I think first frosts come in october most of the time, real winter around christmas. Some things like parsnips and cabbage grows a lot after the first frost. I suppose our daytime temps are more comfortable than sauna land but I like to garden in early mornings to avoid the worst heat.
