Quick question

Postby hillsdown » Mon Jul 09, 2012 6:48 pm

How many lbs of potatoes do I need to make potato salad for 50 people and hopefully some left over for the next day as well as how many dozen eggs .
The last big dinner party I had we did up 10lbs for 35 people 1 dozen eggs and had some left for the midnight lunch but there were a lot of men with healthy appetites as well as a keg of beer .

Also I am making this Asian salad (doubling it) and need to know if I can substitute plain old kraft Italian or Asian Sesame dressing in the bottle and how much should I use .

Thank you . :tiphat:

It's a reunion so I would do 25 lbs. people will want to take some home. More so than just a party
On the substitution, make a small batch and see how you like it before you make a big one

Cook enough that you have some left over for cold potatoe salad sandwiches later in the week. ;-)

Nothing wrong with potato salad sandwiches. I just sprinkle a little more pepper and salt on them and YUM!

go to all http://www.allrecipes.com and search for a potato salad. Change the serving number to 50 and it will give you a good idea of how much you need.

here is a simple one for 40 people. You can change the serving number to what you need.

I really like that site. It has been very helpful when I have had to cook for a crowd. There are some delicious recipes there too.
