How much do those things cost?? I'm not sure I want to climb up there and spend the day waiting for them to do the deed.
Any other suggestions?

If they are digging a hole or trying to cover it up afterwards you might try laying some chicken wire on top. I don't know how well it would work on hay but you could try laying some tape sticky side up on top of rolls where you see them the most.
