This is a coincidence that you are chatting about the .25 as I have just recently been researching details on my baby Beretta.

I found this write up - The 318 Pocket Pistol was introduced in 1935 with serial numbers in the 609000 to approx. 610000. A total of about 1000 we produced between 1935-1937.
The 418 was first published in the 1938 catalogue and was produced from 1937-44 with serial numbers in the 611000-647079 range.1945-47 with 647356-658016;
1947-54 with 10001A-99999A; 1954-61 with 00001C-46410C.
A total of some 178,000 were produced between the years of 1937 and 1961.

My gun's serial number begins with 4 and ends with an A, it belonged to my grandfather.

It is well worn as I usually carry it on the tractor in case I injure some animal(tortoise, guinea fowl mainly) whilst cutting etc which needs to be put out. It's a potent little gun but I sometimes wonder if one wouldn't be safer with pepper spray

I've got an old sundance boa in .25 that is 20 yrs old and looks brand new. Kathy if you want it I'll sell it to you for 400.00. Only had about 100 rounds thru it and a one owner gun. Safe queen
The pie woulda been cheaper and depending in the diner maybe just as harmful

Hmmmm. Nice. I paid less for it than Hook offered his pistol up for. Thx, Kenny.

In nickel and marked US property could make it $4800.

Not nickel and not US marked -- but that's okay. Still a nice little knee-buster investment piece. :)

We went to dinner Sat. with a bunch of friends we only get to see once a year. In that same complex, there was a little gun shop, which was still open after dinner. So hubby and I wondered over there. I've had my carry permit for quite awhile, but usually only carry if I'm travelling by myself. But, I found the cutest little knee buster in that shop! A Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket .25 (hammerless); serial no. dates it at 1918. It's in really great condition. Better than chocolate cake!! :)

As far as an investment goes great deal, as far as dropping it in your purse it is an anemic round at best.

CB, hubby said exactly the same thing: anemic. But better than nothing other than the usual girly things in a purse (as Dun also said).

Only need one purse-size .25, Jon. The Gun Bible gospel according to Hubby is, "the more the better." We're covered.

Just that I had an uncle shoot himself with a 25 when I was very young so I have always been a little scared of them. Not a good reason to be.

Where did he shooot himself? How much damage did it do?

It might do for real close range head shots. Like in the ear.

The late, great Jeff Cooper said carry a .25 if you want to, but don't load it.
If you load it you might shoot somebody and if you do shoot somebody and he finds out about it he might get mad.

Having said that, I often have a .22 or .25 in my vehicle when I don't feel like lugging around something heavier.

I guess most of you haven't killed any cows or hogs before. If you want your animal killed stone dead, I can do it with a 22 short in 1 shot. Yes a big gun is more forgiving but a little one will get the job done. Bullet size doesn't matter as much as bullet placement.
If we would of known this, we would of picked our own cotton. Liberals have no values.
