Crushed canola vs. distellers

Postby Amo » Tue Aug 14, 2012 5:23 pm

I was courious if anybody had any experience in feeding canola after the oil has been removed vs distellers. Visited with an insurance agent. His brother was talking about the stuff. Says % moisture is comparable to modified distellers. Just courious as to feed value, pit falls, etc. My feed man is going to look into it for me. Just snooping around!

Thanks.

Canola meal is an excellent protein source. Usually guaranteed at 36% crude protein, but is lower in fat, and TDN than DDG but equal energy....an excellent ingredient.

Feed man called back yesterday. He said the soybean meal type stuff is a very good product if you can find it. Said if I could buy it for $130 a ton Hubbard would buy every load I could find because nobody can find it.

The stuff I was talking about is some kinda "mash" like modified distellers. Guess the shelf life is less and feed value is about like rice/soy hulls. Pretty much said a person was better off with higher priced DDG

Man I sure was hopping for $3 corn! :lol2: :cry2: :bang:
