Birth Control for heifer

Post by moeplus3 » Mon Mar 18, 2019 12:16 pm

Hey all I just acquired a little 2 week bottle calf heifer. I have a 1.5 year old steer also. I know I have a ways to go and I am not worried about the steer getting to her when she comes in heat but the bunch we share a fence with. These are not for food but for hobby.
Is there birth control for females and will I have to worry whether the "gang " next door bust the fence down?

Why are you worried if it's a steer?

If she's never going to be bred, you could get her spayed.

Once she gets breeding age and they do get together you can lute her to terminate it. Other than that keep your fences tight and strong.

But, like Nesi said, if you don't want to breed her - ever - have her spayed.
