Sold steers today. With the short wheat we decided to sell some bigger long term weaned steers today. The 643 lb steers brought $1.66. The 791 lb strs $1.35. Basically same per hd price for both groups. We are happy. When we weaned wasn't sure what to do. Ran them on short wheat, wheat hay and cake every other day until the last 3 weeks

Kenny the 6 wts were better than anywhere else this week in this area. The feeder cattle dropped some the last 2 days around here with the futures down. It is always hard to decide where and when to market them. We are happy. Way better than if we had sold at weaning.

Two loads of mainly Hereford steers went from the feedlot on Wednesday. The previous 10 days of cold weather stood them still but they still ave. 2.6. They weighed 736 shrunk and with the slide figured in were $1.9512 per lb.

elkwc - the two groups came out within pennies of each other. Pretty crappy you didn't get paid for your gain on the bigger group. But, all in all, great price.

The futures dropped and they really knocked prices on feeders Thursday and Friday here. We still made good money on them. You win some and lose some. At least most of the feed was pasture and not grain we had to buy. We knew when we loaded them what the situation was. So not a surprise. We sold 735 lb steers for a lot less in the fall.

Also what is considered the top sale in this region sold some 637 lb steers reputation steers Thursday they have been talking about for $1.65 so we feel real good that ours topped them the next day. Also I misjudged the weight pretty bad.
