2019 bred heifer sale.

Post by Ky hills » Fri Oct 25, 2019 8:43 pm

Tonight we the regional bred heifer sale that we have been a part of for several years. It was looking pretty bleak going into it going on the results of one at another yards earlier in the week that was said to have averaged around $1100.
I am not sure what the whole sale tonight averaged but pretty sure it was around $1300. Our average was $1420 per head and our range was from $1575- $1300. Still didn’t make much but sure am thankful that we did that well considering how things are.
These are some of ours at the stockyards

This is the time of year that they seem to have them here. Used to be one held in mid September. Most are in later October and early November. Heifers are around 4-6 months bred at this time.

You did well. I bought some 3-4 y/o bred reg Angus for $1,300 last month. Yesterday watched reg top quality Hereford 4+ month bred sell for 1,000-1,050. 3-4 y/o RA,Angus and Hereford reg cows 1,100-1,500. I almost bid on a few. The only reason I didn't was it was a video auction and I don't like them.

Buy sell guys are betting on an increase in calf prices after the late harvest is done, and cows going up accordingly. Who knows? :cowboy:

How do these OK prices compare to last fall?
