Okay, here’s the follow up to my experiment... took 4 red steers into OKC Stockyards sale for 10/28 sale - averaged just under 940 @$122.50.

Took several different things into Payne Co. Sale 10/30 - 2 brindle steers 570 (avg weight) @ $.81, 2 RWF 772 @ $.90, 1 red 530 @ $1.00.

All worked with two rounds, all beef breed. Caveat - 2 at Payne Co. had bands on testicles still, having only been banded several days prior. No, this was not strictly an apples to apples comparison, but educational nonetheless. Sometimes an education is expensive!
so it was worth it going to the city?

i know as much about this as anything else i don't know much about

An extra 1/2hr driving one way for me. Also, with 24/7 unloading at OKC that has real value with my schedule.

Crystal ball is showing a larger stock trailer in my future.

What would the Payne calves have brought at OKC? Hard to compare
My thoughts only, don't bet the farm on them. KT

We’ll never know... Confident at least a $1.00 which would translate to an extra $350. Sure could’ve used that last night buying some hunting gear!

4 of OKC steers pictured and 2 of the Payne Co. Comparable in quality, just not weights.
