I wish I was getting a price like this

Post by HDRider » Thu Oct 17, 2019 4:31 pm

In one of the largest cattle rustling cases in recent memory, the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association is offering a cash reward of $25,000 for information to crack the case. Additionally, the Crime Stoppers of Wichita Falls is offering $1,000, bring the total reward to $26,000 for any potential tipsters.

According to the TSCRA, 489 steers were stolen from a ranch near Wichita Falls, TX., sometime between November 2018 and August 2019. The rancher did not discover the cattle were stolen until shipping time due to the size of the ranch.

The missing Angus-Charolais crossbred steers are estimated to weigh 800 to 1,000 pounds each and have a brand on the left hip. They are valued at $735,000.

And they're only paying $50/head to find them.

Think I will hold out for a better price. ;-)

Did anyone apologize for making me one?

He probably retains ownership and that figure is what they would be worth at the kill plant.

I admit I don't see everything regularly and lose a few to the downhill "neighbors" occasionally, but 500 head???!!!! What is the total herd size???

How can he claim future value?

He should only claim what they are worth when they disappeared.

I got $1.44 for 745# calves and was thrilled to death with the way the market's been.
I can't imagine being so big that I wouldn't notice 489 calves gone. Not doubting it, just hard to imagine. That's a lot of land and a lot of cattle.

They should look at the hired help no way this rancher is managing things like he should.

I doubt he's the one claiming they're worth that much. Reporters have a way of misunderstanding and misreporting numbers.

Wonder why this is the third article I've seen about this and I've not seen a picture of the brand?

He is talking to the media. When was the last time the media made an honest report?

I wondered the same thing. It says they have a brand. Great so do a whole lot of other cattle. Might help to identify the steers if a person knew what the brand is. But them again has the media ever left out important details in a story?

Yep. A lot of pertinent information left out if someone was truly looking for them. At least you’d think a banker would be looking for them unless he already knows it’s a lost cause.... who knows, since the were so closely watched, maybe it will turn out to be just a clerical error. 👀😂

Again, this is just a snippet article from the RFDTV website. This is not the owners attempt at getting them back.
